Biden orders CBP to ‘catch and release’ illegal immigrants into US cities without COVID tests

Amid a surge in migrants and a global pandemic, the Biden government is ordering Customs and Border Protection in Texas to allow newly arrived illegal immigrants to enter US cities under a policy called “catch and release”.

This isn’t a harmless no-brainer, it’s real life and it’s happening right now.

This week, Biden signed a number of immigration-related executive orders, including the repeal of President Trump’s order ending “capture and release” policies.

This order raises concerns that the new “Come One, Come All” approach will trigger a mass influx of migrants that could overwhelm the agency’s limited detention capacity. Fox News Reports.

Customs and Border Protection identified three factors that led to the decision: an increase in migrant traffic, particularly from Central America; Mexico’s Refusal to Accept Additional Families with Children Under 12; and the COVID-19 pandemic, which has reduced Border Patrol’s detention and transportation capacity.

According to the regulation, Border Patrol can only detain migrants for up to 72 hours Fox News. In some parts of Texas, where migrant fears have doubled in recent months, sectors are no longer able to fulfill the mandate. Additionally, Mexico is refusing to accept more families under Title 42, the Trump-imposed pandemic ordinance, denying entry to any immigrant.

“It is a significant development that they are not withdrawing certain family units under Title 42,” said former DHS Secretary Chad Wolf. “This is very worrying because if you only do this in a sector or two it will likely manifest across that line in the near future.”

Wolf and others warned that smugglers and families are taking advantage of the situation and bringing more migrants to the weaker areas.

“Since April 2020, there has been a steady increase in the number of border crossings at CBP, which has resulted in some facilities reaching maximum safe storage capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing guidelines,” said Rod Kise, Public Affairs Officer from CBP.

“After years of practice, when long-term solutions to holding are not possible, some migrants are processed for deportation, posted a notice and released to the US to await a future immigration hearing. As the government reviews the current immigration process and weighs it against the ongoing pandemic, we will continue to use all current authorities to avoid individuals staying in a community for long periods of time, ”he added.

This poses a tremendous health threat to America as illegal immigrants come in without showing a negative COVID test. And since the number of cases has already hit an all-time high, this is just asking that the case numbers keep rising.

“Federal officials don’t conduct COVID testing on immigrants,” said Roy Rodriguez, manager of McAllen City.

“So we actually reached out to the state of Texas, to the governor’s office. And they quickly sent us thousands of test kits so we could supply the charity that is taking these people in. ”
