BREAKING: Winter Storm Causes State Of Emergency — Leaves Nearly 2 Million Without Power

A massive winter storm left 2.5 million customers in the state of Texas without power in dangerously low temperatures, according to Fox News.
Texas governor Greg Abbott said Texas was facing “a very dangerous winter storm” in the coming days that “will make movement virtually impossible”.
“Typical events allow for a short duration of any outage, but outages are longer if the ERCOT network requires it – which is what we’re seeing at today’s event,” wrote Austin Energy on Twitter.

Citizens vented on social media:
“My parents, who are older, have been without power since 2am,” wrote one user. “You are over 70 years old. How can I give them some strength ?! “
“This is downright dangerous,” wrote another user. “No electricity and wind chills below zero for 5+ hours.”
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner told residents, “The electricity grid continues to lose production.”
“If you are without electricity, you may be without electricity all day. Please do your best to stay warm safely. Check out our seniors. “

“Maximum cold weather preparation MUST be completed today,” tweeted Jeff Lindner, a meteorologist for the Harris County Flood Control District. “Time is running out and conditions will quickly deteriorate late afternoon and evening.”
“Don’t get out if you don’t have to,” warned the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Temperatures are expected to drop again on Monday evening, and more snow and winter rainfall is expected to fall Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.
President Biden also declared a Texas emergency in a statement Sunday evening. The declaration is designed to add state aid to state and local response efforts.
More than 760 flights were canceled at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and at Dallas Love Field most of the nearly 200 flights for Southwest Airlines, the airport’s main airline, were canceled on Sunday.
The storm dropped heavy snow over Oklahoma, creating dangerous driving conditions. Fox 25’s Connor Hansen said several people were hospitalized after a major accident involving multiple tractor units and passenger cars on a freeway near Oklahoma City.
In El Paso, a 15-car bunch on Sunday morning warned anyone trying to travel, but luckily no deaths were reported as of Sunday, KFOX14 reported.
