COVID situation: Sindh reports 12 death, 716 new cases


KARACHI: Up to 12 more patients with COVID-19 died overnight, bringing the death toll to 3,855 and diagnosing 716 new cases when 6,380 tests were done.

In a recent statement issued by CM House, it was reported that 12 more patients from the coronavirus died overnight, bringing the death toll to 3,855, a 1.6 percent death rate.

Shah said 6,380 samples were tested and 716 cases were diagnosed, which translates to a current detection rate of 11.2 percent. He added that 2,605,251 tests have been conducted to date, of which 239,186 cases have occurred; Of them, 90.6 percent or 216,920 patients recovered, 775 of them overnight.

The CM said 18,411 patients were currently under treatment; Of these, 17,434 were in domestic isolation, 13 in isolation centers and 964 in various hospitals. He added that 877 patients were classified as critical, including 89 who were switched to ventilators.

According to the statement, 630 of 716 new cases were discovered from Karachi, including 219 from East, 171 South, 102 Korangi, 58 Central and West 41 and 39 Malir. Hyderabad has 37 cases, Jamshoro and Sukkur 10 each, Larkana three, Khairpur, Ghotki, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar and Thatta one each. The CM urged the population of the province to stay safe by following the SOPs.
