According to reports, Donald Trump has been reaching out to his allies in the Senate to see if there is anyone willing to step up and strip Mitch McConnell of his leadership position. This might be the dumbest thing that Trump has ever done, and it should provide more proof that he’s a selfish idiot that has no real agenda other than being popular. As evil as Mitch McConnell is, he is the only reason Republicans have accomplished anything in the past decade, and removing him could be the end of the GOP as we know it. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

Donald Trump’s anger with the Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell has apparently reached a boiling point. And the Wall Street Journal reported recently that Donald Trump is actually reaching out to some of his MAGA allies in the US Senate, trying to see if he can get enough of them to actually depose Mitch McConnell from his leadership position in the United States Senate. He wants his friends and buddies in the US Senate to kick Mitch McConnell out of the minority leader position. Interesting. And there’s two main reasons here. One, the one that, you know, the paper is giving is that, well, you know, Trump told Mitch McConnell not to advance the infrastructure bill and then McConnell allowed the infrastructure bill to advance. And then it passed the Senate. And, oh my God, how horrible is that? Trump told you not to do it and you did it.

So, yeah, Trump is off that McConnell didn’t listen to him. But there’s another bigger reason why Trump wants Mitch McConnell gone and it goes all the way back to January 6th when Mitch McConnell did not try to obstruct the electoral college vote certification. Mitch McConnell didn’t overturn the 2020 election for Trump, even though he literally wasn’t even able to do it. But Trump is still mad about that. And he’s still mad at Pence about it. Still mad at quite literally every Republican who didn’t go along with his little soft coup. So it is what it is. He wants Mitch McConnell gone. And now I have to take the very weird position of defending Mitch McConnell. Oh, don’t get me wrong. I’m not defending any of his positions. But let’s look at this from a nonpartisan perspective. Okay. Let’s pretend that I’m not on the left. Let’s pretend that Mitch McConnell is not on the right. Let’s talk about effectiveness for just a moment.

Okay. When it comes to effectiveness, no one in DC, and I’m already feeling slimy for saying this, nobody in DC has been better than Mitch McConnell. The only reason Republicans are even still relevant today is because of Mitch McConnell. Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, hundreds of other federal and district judges serving lifetime appointments out here in the United States. The Republican tax cut package. Obstructing the Democratic agenda, not just during the Biden administration, but during the Obama administration. All of that, all of it was made possible by Mitch McConnell. Show me another Republican that has done more for the Republican party than Mitch McConnell. I’ll wait. Show me. There hasn’t been one. Sure as hell hasn’t been Donald Trump. Now of course we can put our partisan blinders back on and talk for a moment about how destructive Mitch McConnell has been. Obviously, everything I just mentioned is absolutely horrible, right?

Those tax cuts did not provide any relief for working families, allowed for more concentration of wealth at the very top, you know, increased the income gap between the haves and the have-nots. The judges that he’s stacked on the benches all across the country, including the United States Supreme Court, are lurching the country further to the right crapping all over the constitution.
